If Windows still starts up (Reset)
1. switch off the laptop completely.
Make sure it is actually switched off (press the start button for 5–10 seconds).
2. switch the laptop on and off again
Switch on the laptop. As soon as the Windows loading icon appears, press and hold the power button. The laptop will switch off again. Repeat this process until a message saying «Please wait» or «Repair mode» appears (this should happen after 2–3 attempts).
3. reset the PC
A screen should now appear. This is Recovery Mode. Go to «Advanced options», select «Troubleshoot» twice, and then choose «Reset this PC» (local reinstallation). Now follow the on-screen instructions.
If Windows no longer starts (reinstall)
That's what you need:
- Other laptop/PC with active Windows
- USB stick (min. 8GB)
- About half an hour
1. download the Windows Media Creation Tool
Use your other PC to search the internet for «Media Creation Tool Windows». Make sure you’re on a Microsoft website and only download it from there.
2. follow the instructions
You will now be asked to insert a USB stick. All further instructions will be displayed on the screen.
3. start broken laptop with USB stick
Everything should now be ready for a new installation. Insert the USB stick into your broken laptop and go to the so-called «Boot Options».
You can usually call these up by pressing one of the following buttons directly at the start:
- F9 (HP)
- ESC (many others)

4. perform a new installation
