Pass on laptops

🎁 The best work step for us!

Now that a device has been processed, it's time for its big day: It may find its way to someone who is eagerly awaiting their own basic digital equipment.

How do you order a laptop?

Only our partner organisations can currently do this. These include, among others:

  • Social services and offices
  • Asylum and migration organisations
  • other aid organisations

Each of these partners has a contract with us. You can only become a partner if you commit to our rules, which are set out in the partnership agreement.

🤷 What is a partner?

On our page for Partnerships you will find lots more information on how to become a partner and what the conditions are.

What can you wish for?

In principle, there is no entitlement to a specific model, colour or equipment. However, our organisation takes official school requirements into account. For example, if a touchscreen is required, one will be supplied.

✅ Great advantage

No matter what the requirements are: The cost contribution per device always remains the same. That's why purchasing apprentice appliances from us is particularly attractive, as higher requirements quickly add up to a lot of money.

Which requirements are taken into account?

We distinguish between two groups of requirements:

Tough requirements

We always fulfil these criteria. The background to this is that it is difficult or even impossible to change or upgrade these components.

- Processor family: e.g. Intel i5/i7
- Memory: e.g. at least 8GB RAM
- Touchscreen: yes / no / optional

Soft requirements

These criteria are fulfilled as best as possible, but we cannot guarantee this. The background to this is that you as the recipient can take measures yourself or the requirements make little sense from a technical point of view.

- Processor generation: e.g. Intel i5 from 12th gen
- Battery runtime: e.g. min. 4h
- Storage space: e.g. 256GB

How is a suitable device selected?

Our dispatch system knows which appliances we have in stock. The reconditioning team knows how many devices of which type are needed on each dispatch day.

When the package and device are married, the system also checks again whether all hard criteria are met. If not, package creation is prevented.

📖 Did you know?

Our operational team not only has hard-working employees in preparation and logistics, but also a software developer. This allows us to develop great programmes that support us in all process steps and thus also provide security.

Which operating system will be installed?

We distinguish between two types of device:

🏡 Device for everyday use
Here we install a current Zorin OS version, as well as many useful additional programmes. The aim is to ensure that the recipients do not have to pay any licence costs and enjoy a familiar operating environment.
🏫 Device for school use
A current Windows 11 version is installed here. The background is that many vocational schools and other educational institutions are trapped in this ecosystem. Of course we are bothered by this, but we must not stand in the way.

What does shipping look like?

We dispatch laptops from our workshop every fortnight. The ordering partners decide where the devices are sent. There are two options:

🏢 Shipping to partners
The device is sent to the address stored for the customer. The delivery accuracy here is very high.
🏡 Private shipping
The device is sent directly to the recipient's home. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for delivery problems to occur here, especially if someone does not respond to a collection note. This is why we charge a small surcharge so that we can organise a second delivery if it doesn't work the first time.

🤷 What happens after delivery?

Well: Our association work is not finished yet. We provide help via our Whatsapp support hotline and also make many instructions available -> Support and accompanying work
