Not all of our laptops with touchscreens come with a stylus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Different types of pens<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Passive stylus (capacitive)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Works on any touchscreen \u2013 just like a finger, only more precise. No battery, no pairing. Good for navigation and simple inputs, less suitable for writing or drawing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passive pens are perfectly adequate for simply jotting down handwritten notes and rough plans or sketches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Active pen (MPP)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contains electronic components and responds to pressure and tilt. Significantly more precise and suitable for handwritten notes, but also much more expensive. Not every laptop is compatible with every stylus \u2013 and vice versa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Active pens are only really useful in a few situations, such as when you need to produce extremely precise sketches and plans, or if you work in a profession with a strong focus on graphics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does the wLw laptop come with a stylus or not? <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We have received a number of laptops that come with active styluses. We do not have any passive styluses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school requires pupils to bring their own pens AND<\/strong> Active use of a pen is common (e.g. in graphic design, engineering and assembly roles).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school requires pupils to bring their own pens BUT<\/strong> Such a requirement is not proportionate (e.g. gap years, professions without a focus on graphic design).

If we don\u2019t have any devices with active pens ourselves, we won\u2019t be able to send any either. However, this is very rare.

Even if schools require active pens, that doesn\u2019t mean you actually have to use one. Before buying one, be sure to check whether you would actually use it at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not every stylus works with every laptop. You need to be particularly careful with active styluses. It\u2019s best to double-check before you buy one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new active pen can quickly end up costing a lot. You can also find second-hand options for this item online, where the price can be significantly lower. But do check the warranty!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
