BootDevice not found (HP Laptops)

If your laptop does not start and the following error message is displayed, you can proceed as follows:

BootDevice Not Found

Please install an operating system on your hard disk.

Hard Disk - (3FO)
Error message

This error occurs when, for some reason, the Zorin OS installation has been corrupted or something has been adjusted in the BIOS menu. Here's how you can fix this error.

1. checking the BIOS setting

With HP laptops, you may have accidentally changed something in the boot settings. So you have to check the settings there.

When starting the laptop, press the F10. This should take you to the BIOS menu.

Now search here for the settings "Boot Options" and check whether starting "Legacy" is allowed or not. If not, allow this.

You may also have to make settings in other tabs. Find your way around the BIOS and only change what is urgently necessary. The changes you make should not affect the functionality of the laptop.

Now restart the laptop again and see if everything works now.

2. reinstall Zorin OS

If you cannot continue in this way, try reinstalling Zorin OS. We have created a guide that shows you step by step how to do this: Reinstall Zorin OS
